Ceiling Water Damage Repair in Toronto & GTA

Ceiling Water Damage Repair With Complete Photo Documentation

Ceiling brown stains? Sagging drywall? Peeling paint? Water damage doesn’t wait — neither do we. Master of Ceilings has been Toronto’s water damage repair specialist since 2010.

Why Toronto Homeowners Call Us First for Water Damage

You noticed brown stains spreading across your ceiling. Or maybe the drywall is starting to sag dangerously. Or paint is peeling and bubbling in spots. These are all signs of ceiling water damage — and unfortunately, the longer you wait, the worse it gets and the more expensive the repair becomes.

At Master of Ceilings, ceiling water damage repair is one of our top three services. We’ve repaired thousands of water-damaged ceilings across Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, and the entire GTA since 2010. From small brown stains to major sagging sections requiring full replacement — we handle every situation.

Why we’re different from general contractors: water damage on ceilings is tricky. Water spreads through drywall like a sponge, so the wet area is usually bigger than the stain you can see. Our specialist focus means we identify the full damage area before quoting, not just what’s visible. That avoids surprise costs mid-project.

Types of Water Damage We Fix

Why Water Damage Can Look Smaller Than It Really Is

A water stain on the ceiling doesn’t always show the full extent of the damage. Water travels through drywall and framing before the stain becomes visible, so what you see is often smaller than what’s actually wet.

That’s why we don’t simply repair the brown spot and call it finished. We inspect the surrounding area and look for soft, swollen, sagging or otherwise damaged drywall before deciding what needs to come out.

Once the source of the leak has been fixed and the area is dry, we can tell you whether the ceiling needs a small patch, partial drywall replacement, or a larger section replaced and refinished.

The goal is to repair the actual damage — not just cover the stain.

One honest note: we repair ceilings, not leaks. We don’t do plumbing or roofing. The source of the water has to be fixed by the right trade before we start, otherwise the damage comes straight back and you’ve paid twice. If you’re not sure where the water is coming from, we’ll tell you what we see and who to call.

Ceiling Repair After Water Damage vs. Water Restoration

People searching for water damage repair often find restoration companies. We’re not one — and it’s worth knowing the difference before you call.

Our specialty is repairing the ceiling after the water problem has been stopped. We repair damaged drywall and plaster, replace sections that can’t be saved, apply new plaster, sand smooth, use stain-blocking primer where needed, and paint the finished ceiling.

We don’t provide water extraction, structural drying, plumbing, roofing, or full-property restoration. If you need those first, a qualified professional should handle them before we repair the ceiling.

If your ceiling is damaged and the leak is already fixed, we’re exactly who you want.

Our Water Damage Repair Process

Here’s exactly what happens when we repair your water-damaged ceiling. No surprises, no rushed steps, no shortcuts.

01

Free Water Damage Assessment

We provide a detailed assessment of the visible damage and determine what ceiling repairs are needed once the water source has been addressed.

02

Source Verification

Confirm the leak is actually fixed before we repair. We coordinate with plumbers or roofers if needed. Repairing without fixing the source is a waste of money.

03

Removal & Drying

Remove damaged drywall, check for mold, ensure area is completely dry before proceeding. Wet drywall under new material always fails.

04

Replace & Plaster

New drywall installation, multi-layer plaster application, Level 5 finish.

05

Stain-Blocking Primer

Special primer prevents stain recurrence through new paint.

06

Finish & Document

Paint, cleanup, before/during/after photo documentation, final walkthrough.

Water Damage FAQs

Should I fix water damage immediately?

Yes. Water damage should be inspected and repaired as soon as the source of the leak has been fixed. Leaving wet or damaged drywall too long leads to further deterioration, staining, and potentially mold growth.

Common signs are brown or yellow stains, bubbling or peeling paint, soft or swollen drywall, cracks that appear after a leak, or a section starting to sag. We can assess the visible damage and explain what needs repairing once the water source has been fixed.

Sometimes, for very small stains. We seal with stain-blocking primer and repaint. For larger damage or sagging drywall, removal and replacement is required. We honestly tell you which approach makes sense.

We can handle small surface mold as part of standard repair. For significant mold infestations, we coordinate with certified mold remediation specialists. Health and safety come first.

Small stains: 1-2 days. Medium damage: 2-4 days. Major restoration: 5-10 days. Drying time between plaster coats can’t be rushed. Clear timeline provided before starting.

It depends on the condition. Minor damage may only need patching and refinishing. If the drywall is saturated, swollen, sagging or badly damaged, we remove the affected section and install new drywall before plastering and finishing.
